There is a great and powerful spirit who lives th the woods of New England, for as far back as his memory would reach. He reminds me that it has not always been 'new england,' that he has been there much longer than that. He tells a wild tale as we sit and watch the world go by, we are traveling through the realms to a time and place undisclosed to me. We are taveling along side the wind, not with, mind you, but accpmpanying her on her way. She is merely helping us along. THe spirit reveals to me his colors. Each color depicts a time and place, a story if you will, about his existance and his place in time and space. I am drawn to the light of purple and suddenly he is taking me there.
We arrive on a plane between reality and space. We begin our journey. I trip on a stone and fall deep into the pit of knowledge. We hold hands as we approach the bottom, we are falling more and more slowly every second. We are walking in a garden, those there can not see us. We witness an argument between a father and son. It is a heated and angry exchange. It seems that long ago a woman offered the son a deal
The Fool
There is a great and powerful spirit who lives in the woods of New England for as far back as his memory would reach. He reminds me that it has not always been 'new england,' that he has been there much longer than that. He tells a wild tale as we sit and watch the world go by, we are traveling through the realms to a time and place undisclosed to me. We are traveling along side the wind, not with, mind you, but accompanying her on her way.
It seems that long ago a woman offered the son a deal and the father disagreed with the terms. The son is back and arguing with the father because his journey was not a happy one, just as his father had predicted. The deal they struck was a fools bargain. The son was to kill the woman's husband and help her to stage her death. For payment she would allow him one wish-- she was a spinner of spells and had several familiar spirits at close hand to do her bidding, they each knew he would be allowed one request, to be granted by them. The son's plan was pulled off cleanly, the husband drown in a lake as his boat was upturned by a large wave on a stormy day. Of course the wave was an infrence on the part of the local authorities, the son, Mekrech had pitched the man off of the boat and taken ashore with him the woman. The then returned to dump the boat.
The two lived together for the period of just less than one year. The son was happy with the woman and soon forgot about his payment of a wish. During this year the woman worked her magic on Mekrech and he soon forgot everything that was important to him. She had him captivated and he was hers. He danced for her under the stars and twisted and twirled to her delight where ever she pointed her finger. She would point and he would steal, she would point and he would kill. He was her puppet. One day while hunting for food Mekrech came upon the lake where the deal was struck and carried out. He came upon a trail and being enchanted as he was, lost sight of his immediate goal of hunting and followed it. He came to a bend and stopped. He could hear voices. He listened in the bushes as his mistress, his love, plotted against him. She was striking a familiar deal... It would soon be his turn to die. Mekrech came to his senses and listened intently...she was working her spell on this new man, and the one on him was weakened for the moment.
Listening to the terms of the deal reminded him of his one wish. To use it he had to summon the spirit of red and ask of it whatever he wished. In haste, he decided that his wish must be to kill the mistress and her companion. He summoneed the spirit and it was done. He ran down the trail and directly to the place where he lived with his mistress. He gathered his things and set out on his way, thinking all was well and that life would simply return to its state previous to the engagement. This was not the case.
The spirit of his mistress held bound to the earth tormented him on his trip, following him, tripping him, causing him to loose his way. He walked on and on, never getting very far without the voice of his mistress interrupting him, the spirits she commandsed knocking him this way and that. He was tormented for months and months. When he was battered and broken and could see no end to it, he finally decided to ask her spirit what it would take for him to leave. She asked for one simple thing-- a drop of blood from everyone he loved. She gave one stipulation, the blood could not be ill got, he could not steal it or harm to get it. If he did harm he would die instantly. She gave him 9 days and 9 minutes to complete the task. He set out and gathered the drops in a vial. His friends gave their drops willingly. So did his siblings. His father was another story. This brings us to the argument.
During the fierce argument, Mekrech's father had a stroke and fell to the ground, dead. Stunned he knelt by the body. Moments later he felt his body begin to shake. As he trembled, his spirit left his body and he lay dead next to his father. His essence whirled in the atmosphere and came to rest in the air after much struggle and confusion. The spirit of the mistress danced glowing yellow and orange around him. He couldn't control his movement. He was sucked into her and became part of her. His grey mixed with her yellow and became invisible. He was no more. She gathered herself up and became small, although she could cover much more space if she wanted. She dived into his body. She possessed him. It was a fools bargain from the start.
My spirit tells me that my first lesson is complete.
